Abstract
We present some experimental results concerning the scattering of a st rong laser beam by a smectic liquid crystal film. The scattered light intensity is measured as a function of the incident intensity and this dependence appears to have a strong nonlinear character. It has been found that the direction of light polarization with respect to the mol ecular orientation plays a crucial role in this process.
