Abstract
A new type of hypermetallic molecule, K2CN, has been generated by lase r ablation of the solid material K3Fe(CN)(6) and detected by a reflect ron time of flight mass spectrometer. This new type of hypermetallic c ompound should have many physical and thermochemical properties simila r to those of Li2CN, which was predicted by ab initio calculations and observed by Kudo et al. (J. Phys. Chern. 1995, 99, 6477). In this pap er, observations on both the K2CN+ and the K2CN molecules are presente d.
