Abstract
The Czochralski growth of good quality, large single crystals of Nd3+- doped Sr-10(VO4)(6)F-2 and their optical characterisation are reported . Optical absorption measurements show high absorption (18 cm(-1)) and large linewidth (30 cm(-1)) at the diode pump wavelength 810 nn. Lumi nescence spectra reveals near single line emission at 1.06 pm and 1.34 mu m due to the F-4(3/2) --> I-4(11/2), I-4(13/2) transitions, respec tively, with the latter much more efficient than in other commonly use d crystals. These excellent optical properties make Nd:SVAP an ideal p rospect for diode pumped laser action at both 1.06 mu m and 1.34 mu m.
