Abstract
We describe a colour centre laser pumped by a laser diode. The pumping is at 0.96 mu m in the absorption band of the Tl-0(1) centre in KCl:T l+. The laser emission is tunable around 1.5 mu m with an output power of 17 mW. We have also obtained with the same device, 15 mW with (F-2 (+))(H) centres in NaCl:OH-.
