Abstract
Single crystal of lithium iodate (Z-cut samples) were implanted at roo m temperature with Eu+ ions at 150 kev with a fluence of 5.10(16) ions .cm(-2). The oxidation states of the cations have been determined by X -ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XPS spectra clearly reveal only europium in Eu3+ along the depth profile analysis.
