Abstract
An alternative energy cascade model based on less restrictions than Ko lmogorov's model (published in 1941) is presented. The possibility of describing intermittency and a net production or dissipation rate of t urbulent kinetic energy makes it useful for describing observed energy spectra and structure functions - which deviate significantly from Ko lmogorov's results - e.g. newly presented measurements performed by Ma lerud, Maloy and Goldburg.
