A new method of cleaving YBa2Cu3O7-delta single crystals in ultra-high
vacuum is introduced. We demonstrate that the resulting surface shows
LEED patterns of high quality. In contrast to surfaces generated by c
leaving with a razor blade, the angle-resolved photoelectron spectra a
re highly reproducible. In addition, all features previously identifie
d like the Fermi edge and the sharp 1 eV structure, also show up.
