A structural analysis in the as-deposited Co-x/Zr-y (5 < x < 40 nm, 5
< y < 80 nm) multilayers prepared by rf sputtering has been performed
by means of Co-59 NMR spectroscopy. Three main magnetic contributions
are found in all samples: (1) Co/Zr interface consisting of CoZr amorp
hous alloy with an average Zr concentration of 20%; (2) bulk crystalli
ne Co, which has a general tendency to crystallize in an fee structure
with a significant amount of hcp stacking faults; (3) grain boundarie
s within bulk Co revealing the presence of isolated Zr atoms.
