Abstract
In Gd/Mo multilayers with a gadolinium layer thickness of 3.3 +/- 0.3 nm the magnetic moments of the gadolinium atoms are pinned at the inte rfaces. The pinning strength is proportional to the molybdenum thickne ss. The low-field magnetisation curves are similar fur all the multila yers studied, but the high-field magnetisation shows an oscillatory de pendence on the molybdenum thickness.
