Abstract
Effects of the same origin as the giant magnetoresistance fan be obser ved in the absorption of long-wave ultrasound penetrating through meta llic multilayers. The correlation between the magnetic field dependenc e of the absorption coefficient and the magnetoresistance is defined b y a specific mechanism of the effect.
