Abstract
Magnetic measurements are presented for MBE grown superlattices of Ho/ Tm. For Tm blocks with greater than or equal to 20 Tm layers the groun d state is a ferrimagnetic structure, as in pure Tm. The compressive s train due to the lattice mismatch between Ho and Tm stabilises a ferro magnetic state in the Ho layers, for blocks less than or equal to 20 H o layers thick.
