FILLING OF ONE-SIDE-CLOSED CAPILLARIES IMMERSED IN LIQUIDS

The problem of mass transfer in one-side-closed conical capillaries im mersed in liquids is studied in this paper, The filling of such capill aries with liquids is characterized by the following specific feature: under certain conditions a capillary fills with a liquid both from th e channel's entrance and from its closed top. New peculiarities of dou ble-side filling of conical capillaries with bidistilled water and eth anol have been established in this study. Some experimental results cl arifying the physical nature of the phenomenon are obtained. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
