Abstract
2-(Prop-2-enyl)hex-5-en-1-ol (1) and erythro-1,4-bis(cyclohex-2-enyl)b utane-2,3-diol (9) undergo competitive intramolecular cyclization to g ive exclusively tetrahydrofuran derivatives without giving any tetrahy dropyran derivatives.
