Abstract
We show that to a very good approximation there exists in general an e quivalence between intermittency and the assumption that the first fac torial correlator F-11 is independent of bin size. We further show tha t strict bin size independence imposes for the possible values of the intermittency index phi, phi = 0 or phi = 1.
