Abstract
We examine the possibility of generating the squeezing effect in a qua ntum harmonic oscillator by a nonlocal potential, via both perturbatio n calculations and exact (numerical) solutions. We find that a nonloca l potential can generate the squeezing effect if its strength is not t oo large.
