Mj. Vanderheyden et al., TIME REVERSIBILITY OF INTRACRANIAL HUMAN EEG RECORDINGS IN MESIAL TEMPORAL-LOBE EPILEPSY, Physics letters. A, 216(6), 1996, pp. 283-288
Intracranial electroencephalograms from patients suffering from mesial
temporal lobe epilepsy were tested for time reversibility. If the rec
orded time series is irreversible, the input of the recording system c
annot be a realisation of a linear Gaussian random process, We confirm
ed experimentally that the measurement equipment did not introduce irr
eversibility in the recorded output when the input was a realisation o
f a linear Gaussian random process, In general, the non-seizure record
ings are reversible, whereas the seizure recordings are irreversible.
These results suggest that time reversibility is a useful property for
the characterisation of human intracranial EEG recordings in mesial t
emporal lobe epilepsy.
