For a safe thermal and rheological layout of cold runner systems for r
ubber injection moulding, technical support for the design is required
. Especially the layout against crosslinking of the material in the ru
nner system is very important in this case. This paper contains simula
tion calculations for the crosslinking state of the elastomer material
in in the runner. Based on the results of these calculations, a model
supported design method for the scorch index in cold runner systems h
as been developed. Possibilities for optimizing the thermal separation
between the hot mould and the cold nozzle are explained as well. Thes
e methods developed, simplify the design of cold runner systems even f
or smaller companies who don't use FEM programs.
