Abstract
A case of medullary thyroid carcinoma seen in Dakar is reported. Only one other case has been reported in the French-speaking part of Africa . The patient had goiter, normal thyroid function, and cold nodules on the thyroid scan. A roentgenogram of the soft tissues of the neck sho wed tracheal compression and enlarged lymph nodes. Complete thyroidect omy with node clearance was performed. The histological study confirme d the diagnosis. The patient had no family history of similar disease or evidence of multiple endocrine neoplasia.
