An. Evtushenkov et Yk. Fomichev, SECRETION OF PECTATE LYASES BY CELLS OF ERWINIA-CHRYSANTHEMI AND ERWINIA-CAROTOVORA VAR ATROSEPTICA, Microbiology, 65(3), 1996, pp. 290-295
The secretion of pectate lyases was studied in the bacteria Erwinia ca
rotovora var. atroseptica and Erwinia chrysanthemi grown on nutrient m
edia with and without the addition of sodium polypectate as an inducer
. The use of a plasmid carrying cloned genes of pectate lyases from E.
chrysanthemi and providing for a high level of constitutive synthesis
of these enzymes allowed the determination of the secretion rate of p
ectate lyases by cells grown without the inducer. The secretion rate o
f pectate lyases by Erwinia cells was 6-10 times higher in the presenc
e of the inducer. Under identical conditions, the secretion of pectate
lyases by E. chrysanthemi EC16 and ENA49 was ten times faster than by
E. carotovora var. atroseptica 36A.
