A Magnum 2800 seeder manufactured by Jumil was examined in laboratory
on its commercial form and with modifications on its seed conductor tu
be. Three seed-drop heights (400, 300 e 200 mm), two seed delivery pos
ition (longitudinal and lateral) and two tube shapes (straight and cur
ve) were considered. Each of these combinations was evaluated at three
different forward speeds (5.0; 7.0 and 9.3 km/h) with a fixed deliver
y rate of eight corn seeds per meter. There was practically no differe
nce between the performance of the seeder with modifications and that
of the commercial form (seed-drop height of 400 mm, longitudinal deliv
ery and straight tube). In any combination, higher increase in the for
ward speed reduced the performance of the seeder tested.
