Al. Zanetti et Ma. Ranal, EFFECT OF AGROINDUSTRIAL WASTES ON THE MY CELIUM GROWTH OF PLEUROTUS SP FLORIDA, IN UBERLANDIA, BRAZIL, Pesquisa agropecuaria brasileira, 31(3), 1996, pp. 215-220
The effect of different agroindustrial wastes in the region of Uberlan
dia, MG, Brazil, on the mycelium growth of Pleurotus sp. ''Florida'' w
as studied. The experiment was conducted from June 26 to July 30, 1993
. The average minimum and maximum temperatures registered were 21.4 an
d 25.1 degrees C, respectively. The substrates used were agroindustria
l wastes of cotton (Gossypium sp.), guariroba (Syagrus oleracea), maiz
e (Zea sp.), soybean (Glycine sp.), and triturated sugar cane (Sacchar
um sp.). The parameters studied were the average mycelium growth time
and speed. The minor average mycelium growth time was registered in th
e cotton and guariroba residues (ca. ten days). The cotton and guariro
ba residues, as well as tritured sugar cane were the most favorable su
bstrates for the increase in the mycelium growth speed. The colonizati
on efficiency of the mycelium in these residues indicates their viabil
ity for conversion in food (fruit bodies).
