Abstract
Extraction of Fe(III) and Am(III) from HNO3 solutions with solutions o f ditolyl(diethylcarbamoylmethyl)phosphine oxide (Tl(2)Et(2)) and diph enyl(dibutylcarbamoylmethyl)phosphine oxide (Ph(2)Bu(2)) in Fluoropol is studied. The influence of the phase contact time and concentrations of the reagent, metal, and nitric acid on the extraction and the Am/F e separation factors is examined. Conditions are found for quantitativ e recovery of americium from iron-containing nitric acid solutions wit h an Am/Fe separation factor of 10(4).
