Aa. Potanin et al., AGGREGATE BREAKAGE OF THE PARTICLES WITH BIOSPECIFIC INTERACTION IN ASHEAR-FLOW, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 58(3), 1996, pp. 355-362
Disaggregation of biospecifically interacting particles in a shear flo
w was theoretically investigated based on the kinetic model of the bre
akage of ligand-receptor bonds. It was assumed that a large particle a
ggregate is broken as a result of rupture of the particle chain where
portions of aggregate hold together. This theoretical model was shown
to describe well the obtained experimental dependences of the sizes of
stable aggregates consisting of the particles of latex immunoconjugat
es and blood platelets on shear rate.
