M. Okubo et al., PREPARATION OF TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE POLYMER PARTICLES HAVING DIFFERENT LOWER CRITICAL SOLUTION TEMPERATURES, Colloid and polymer science, 274(12), 1996, pp. 1188-1191
Preparation of temperature-sensitive core-shell composite polymer part
icles was carried out by seeded emulsion copolymerization of dimethyla
minoethyl methacrylate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate with submicr
on-sized polystyrene seed particles as core. The lower critical soluti
on temperature (LCST) of the core-shell composite was about 35 degrees
C, while the LCST could be controlled toward higher or lower temperat
ures by copolymerizing the shell layer with hydrophilic/hydrophobic vi
nyl comonomer.
