Jm. Bastidas et E. Otero, A COMPARATIVE-STUDY OF BENZOTRIAZOLE AND 2-AMINO-5-MERCAPTO-1,3,4-THIADIAZOLE AS COPPER CORROSION-INHIBITORS IN ACID-MEDIA, Werkstoffe und Korrosion, 47(6), 1996, pp. 333-337
In this paper the corrosion behaviour of copper in 5% (by weight) citr
ic, sulphuric and hydrochloric acids is studied. The efficiency of 2-a
mino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AMT) as a corrosion inhibitor is co
mpared with the use of benzotriazole (BTA). The experimental technique
s were weight loss, polarization curves, polarization resistance and e
lectrochemical impedance spectroscopy. AMT showed greater inhibition e
fficiency than BTA in sulphuric and hydrochloric acids. In citric acid
AMT and BTA show a similar behaviour.
