Digital simulation results concerning aerosol particle transport and d
eposition in a recirculation region are presented. It is assumed that
the particles are shed from sources near the back face of a block in a
turbulent duct flow. The results show that a large number of particle
s may be captured by the block and the upper wall of the channel due t
o impaction and interception. The capture efficiencies increase as the
source distance from the wall decreases. The gravitational effects on
the particle deposition rate are also studied.
