Mer. Mchale et al., SOLUBILITY OF ANTHRACENE IN BINARY (2-ALKOXYETHANOL PLUS 2-ALKOXYETHANOL) SOLVENT MIXTURES, Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 28(6), 1996, pp. 589-593
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in bin
ary (2-methoxyethanol + 2-ethoxyethanol), (2-methoxyethanol + 2-propox
yethanol), (2-butoxyethanol + 2-methoxyethanol), (2-propoxyethanol + 2
-ethoxyethanol), (2-butoxyethanol + 2-ethoxyethanol), and (2-butoxyeth
anol + 2-propoxyethanol) solvent mixtures at T = 298.15 K. Results of
these measurements are used to test two mathematical representations b
ased upon the combined Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kist
er equation and Modified Wilson model. For the six systems studied, bo
th equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical representa
tion of the experimental results, with an overall average absolute dev
iation between measured and calculated values of the order of 0.3 per
cent or less. (C) 1996 Academic Press Limited
