The systematics and the distribution of the genus Cytheropteron Sars 1
866 is studied in the Plio-Pleistocene Section of Monte San Nicola. Fi
fteen taxa have been identified, 7 of which are described as new: Cyth
eropteron (Aversovalva) denticulatum, C. fraudulentum, C. omega, C. (A
.) pinarense gillesi, C. scalprum, C. sulcifer, C. vanharteni.
