Abstract
The intensity ratio of Cr K-beta/K-alpha has been measured for various compounds with Cr of different valencies, bombarding thick crystallin e samples with 2.5 MeV protons and using a Si(Li) detector. A systemat ic increase of this ratio with the valency of Cr is observed. It is di scussed to which extent the results of this intensity ratio are reprod ucible or could be affected by attenuation in the sample. A correlated shift to higher mean energy of the K-beta line is also observed.
