Lc. Alves et al., EXPERIMENTAL X-RAY PEAK-SHAPE DETERMINATION FOR A SI(LI) DETECTOR, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 109, 1996, pp. 129-133
The response function of a Si(Li) detector to monochromatic radiation
was determined in the energy region between 1.7 and 10 keV A wavelengt
h dispersive spectrometer with a plane Bragg crystal was used to selec
t the X-ray lines to be analysed. The chosen targets were irradiated w
ith 1.8 MeV protons. Some modifications were introduced to the known H
YPERMET function in order to describe the peak shapes observed. An ene
rgy dependent function was then determined involving the parameters us
ed in the detector response function. The energy dispersive analysis o
f the Mn K radiation resulting from the decay of a Fe-55 radioactive s
ource, revealed additional radiative contributions to the peak shape o
bserved, attributed to the Auger radiative effect and to the Mn K-beta
5 line.
