Nq. Liu et al., POSITIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF ELEMENTS IN BIOLOGICAL TISSUE, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 109, 1996, pp. 368-371
The multielement positional distributions obtained by the micro-scanni
ng technique in a few different biological tissues were assayed by mul
tivariate statistical analysis. The results showed that the elements i
n normal tissues could be classified in two groups: the first consisti
ng of the minor elements and the other of the trace elements. On the o
ther hand, in abnormal tissues this kind of classification was changed
and might indirectly conform with the results published by other auth
ors. This means that the experiments with high sensitivity using micro
-beam combined with the advanced statistical analysis could make it po
ssible to discriminate the element types and to clarify some metabolis
m processes in micro-size biological tissues. More combined studies ar
e necessary to find out further evidences of these facts.
