Abstract
This work is a review of the investigations that have been in progress for about ten years which concentrate on the study of the distributio n of pollutant metals in the Venice Lagoon system, using PIXE techniqu e to analyse trace elements in surface water, pore water and sediment samples. The concentration behavior is related to the complex processe s that take places along the water column and at the water-sediment in terface.
