Abstract
The time variation of the spartial distribution of an electron beam in teracting with an inhomogeneous wave is investigated. The interaction between an electron beam and an electromagnetic wave changes substanti ally the electron phase and energy distributions. It is shown that und er specific conditions one part of the beam is reflected by an electro magnetic wave while the other part crosses the wave.
