Abstract
The crystal and molecular structure of the title complex (C6H4(OC6H4NC H)(2)Fe)(2)O(C2H6SO) = [{Fe(saloph)}O-2].DMSO [1] was redetermined. Th e structure was solved by the heavy-atom method and refined anisotropi cally to R = 0.040 for 6653 unique observed reflections, The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c with a = 11 .693(2), b = 13.869(3), c = 23.662(5) Angstrom, beta = 102.03(3)degree s, V = 3839.3(2) Angstrom(3); Z = 4, T = 293 K. It was confirmed the b inuclear structure of this molecule with two central atoms of pentacoo rdinated iron bounded ria mu-oxo bridge. Vicinities of iron atoms are equivalent within the FeN2O3 chromophore. Direct distance of the Fe at oms in the molecule is equal to 3.412(1) Angstrom. A network of hydrog en contacts has been found in tile structure of the title complex. Com parison of selected interatomic parameters in the X-ray structures of [{Fe(saloph)}O-2], which have been elucidated till now, is also given.
