Jn. Petzing et Jr. Tyrer, THE EFFECT OF METALLOGRAPHIC STRUCTURE ON CLAMPED PLATE VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS, Experimental mechanics, 36(2), 1996, pp. 127-134
The vibration response of a square clamped plate is dependent on the m
etallographic structure of the material used. Analytical studies of su
ch systems have succeeded in predicting many of the modes of vibration
, but experimental verification has been limited by the methods employ
ed. Electronic speckle pattern interferometry offers the ability to st
udy plate dynamics in real time, thus allowing changes of force input
on the respective vibration modes to be observed as repeatable events.
The study demonstrates the extent to which material characteristics c
an affect experimental frequency values as compared to theoretical pre
dictions.
