Abstract
Eight aphid species known to colonize cotton in the United States are described and illustrated. A brief summary of taxonomic characteristic s, usual hosts, and distribution within the United States are given fo r each species. Pictorial and dichotomous keys are included to aid per sonnel charged with detection, identification, and control of aphids a ssociated with cotton in the United States.
