Cl. Snyder et al., ESOPHAGEAL DUPLICATION CYST WITH ESOPHAGEAL WEB AND TRACHEOESOPHAGEALFISTULA, Journal of pediatric surgery, 31(7), 1996, pp. 968-969
The authors report the case of lower cervical/upper thoracic esophagea
l duplication associated with an obstructing esophageal web. This pres
ented in the newborn period as an esophageal atresia. Initial resectio
n of the web and closure of the fistula were performed. The duplicatio
n was excised electively at 2 months of age. Persistent symptomatic tr
acheomalacia required aortopexy, after which the child recovered uneve
ntfully. There are only three other reports (four cases) in the litera
ture of esophageal atresia (or variants) associated with esophageal du
plication. Copyright (C) 1996 by W.B. Saunders Company
