Abstract
The tracer-diffusion coefficient and mobility of I-131(-) ions in 2.5% agar gel containing sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate, sodium sulphat e and potassium sulphate solutions (0.001 M) have been determined at 2 5 degrees by zone electromigration in presence of d.c. field of differ ent intensities. A non-Gaussian distribution of I-131(-) ion in d.c. f ield resulted in two unequal values of tracer-diffusion coefficients D -1 and D-2 in and against the field direction, which Increases with in crease in intensity and duration of held application. A suitable mecha nism is suggested to explain the observed results.
