Metabolites from Phellinus pini, a fungus pathogenic to conifer trees,
were isolated and tested for antifungal activity against several tree
pathogens. These compounds are 2,4,6-triphenylhex-1-ene, 2-farnesyl-5
-methylbenzoquinone, thyl-13-phenyltri-deca-4,6,8,10,12-pentaene-3-one
, 4-vinylphenol and 4-vinylresorcinol. 4-Vinylphenol showed activity a
gainst most fungi examined.
