Abstract
Emodin, chrysophanol, physcion, knipholone and two new bianthraquinone s, 10-hydroxy-10-(physcion-7'-yl)-chrysophanol anthrone and oxy-2-meth yl-9-(physcion-7'-yl)-1,4-anthraquinone, are reported from the pods of Senna didymobotrya. Knipholone is isolated from the genus Senna for t he first time. The compounds are identified on the basis of their colo ur reactions, comparison with authentic samples and spectroscopic data .
