Abstract
This paper proposes a new software design methodology for programmable controllers (PC's), using sequential function chart (SFC) and encapsu lated actuator model of mechanical actuators. Based on the hybrid prog ramming with SFC and ladder logic diagram (LLD), the part of the LLD i s standardized and encapsulated for a description of each actuator's i nterlocks, To meet the demands of frequent improvement and modificatio n in control programs for mechanical actuators, the concept of encapsu lated actuator model realizes flexibility in design, testing, and main tenance, This concept is expected to be extensively applied to machine control in the large-scale factory automation (FA) system of manufact uring industries.
