Abstract
For the first time, As-S based fibres doped with up to 1000 wt.ppm Pr have been prepared with sufficiently low losses between the 1.0 and 1. 3 mu m wavelength. The new materials exhibit excellent optical, therma l and mechanical properties and offer great potential for application in fibre amplifiers.
