Pj. Sweeney et Rb. Randall, GEAR TRANSMISSION ERROR MEASUREMENT USING PHASE DEMODULATION, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Part C, Journal of mechanical engineering science, 210(3), 1996, pp. 201-213
Gear manufacturers in all fields of industry are under increasing pres
sure to deliver products of high accuracy and which generate ever lowe
r levels of vibration and noise. Over the past decades, transmission e
rror (TE) measurement has become more popular as a means of measuremen
t for research and quality control. However, dedicated measurement sys
tems have often proved incapable of measuring TE under operating condi
tions, This paper presents an overview of TE measurement techniques an
d their applications. In addition, an introduction to a versatile and
portable method of measurement based an FFT analysis and demodulation
is given. This method is easily implemented using current generation F
FT analysers or signal analysis software, and is suitable for research
, diagnostics, condition monitoring and quality control applications a
like.
