J. Roed et Kg. Andersson, CLEANUP OF URBAN AREAS IN THE CIS COUNTRIES CONTAMINATED BY CHERNOBYLFALLOUT, Journal of environmental radioactivity, 33(2), 1996, pp. 107-116
Earlier investigations in the CIS (the former Soviet Union) showed tha
t the radiation from urban surfaces contaminated by Chernobyl fallout
was almost entirely due to Cs-137. Following a series of small-scale t
ests, several decontamination methods were selected for field trials i
n Russia and Ukraine. The trials revealed that, even after 7 years, up
to 75% of the Cs-137 could be removed at relatively little cost and m
ore could be removed if necessary. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science
