Abstract
Advances in medical technology have revolutionized diagnostic brain im aging. Traditional radiography and invasive contrast studies for intra cranial imaging have been superseded by several newer imaging modaliti es which provide high resolution, cross-sectional images. Ultrasonogra phy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, and nuclear scintigraphy are now used for anatomical and functional imaging of the brain. Thes e noninvasive modalities are available at most veterinary teaching ins titutions and are offered through many larger referral practices. The diagnostic usefulness and clinical limitations fur each of these modal ities are described.
