Hm. Hayes et al., ON THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN CANINE MALIGNANT-LYMPHOMA AND OPPORTUNITY FOR EXPOSURE TO 2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXYACETIC ACID, Environmental research, 70(2), 1995, pp. 119-125
In response to criticisms raised regarding a case-control study of can
ine malignant lymphoma, the results of several ancillary analyses are
reported. The case-control study demonstrated a significant associatio
n between risk for canine malignant lymphoma and the opportunity for e
xposure to 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid herbicides. It is demonstrat
ed that risk estimates do not vary by type of control group (i.e., tum
or control or nontumor control group), by method of response (i.e., se
lf-administered or telephone interview), or by geographic area. Questi
ons related to the potential for referral bias, supposed inconsistenci
es in subject responses regarding frequency of herbicide use, and ambi
guities regarding exposure classification are also examined. (C) 1995
