VILLOUS ADENOMA OF THE APPENDIX CAUSING A CUTE APPENDICITIS - A NEW CASE AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

Villous adenoma of the appendix is a rare pathologic entity, the treat ment is controversial. We describe the case of a patient complaining o f abdominal pain that was diagnosed as acute appendicitis. Pathologica l examination of the surgical specimen revealed a villous adenoma of t he appendix. We comment the therapeutic options and we review the lite rature about this pathological entity.
