Abstract
The 40 degrees[111] orientation relationship has a central role in the discussion of recrystallisation textures of aluminium. This orientati on relationship has traditionally been associated with the oriented gr owth theory, but recent experimental observations indicate a link also to oriented nucleation. In the present work the importance and unders tanding of the 40 degrees[111] orientation relationship in recrystalli sation is discussed. The specific energy of such grain boundaries has been given special attention.
