O. Engler et al., INFLUENCE OF DEFORMATION TEMPERATURE AND STRAIN-RATE ON THE RECRYSTALLIZATION NUCLEATION IN AL-MN1-MG1, Zeitschrift fur Metallkunde, 87(6), 1996, pp. 454-464
During recrystallization annealing of cold rolled particle containing
Al alloys particle stimulated nucleation (PSN) can occur which gives r
ise to a substantial weakening of the typical Cube-orientation in the
recrystallization textures. After deformation at elevated temperature,
in contrast, a strong Cube-texture prevails in the same alloys after
recrystallization. In the present paper, this change in recrystallizat
ion mechanism is examined by microstructural investigation and texture
measurements in samples of the alloy Al-Mnl-Mgl (AA3004, can body sto
ck), which were deformed at different temperatures. Besides hot rollin
g, plane strain compression (PSC) tests were employed, which allowed t
o reproduce the deformation temperature and the strain rate much more
accurately than it is possible during hot rolling on a laboratory scal
e. From the results obtained the deformation parameters for the transi
tion from a recrystallization texture as characterized by PSN to the C
ube-texture were determined. The influence of the deformation temperat
ure and the strain rate on the mechanisms of recrystallization nucleat
ion is discussed and a
