Abstract
The development of the 4-Rod RFQ as an injector for low charged heavy ions has demonstrated that structures with spiral-shaped or straight s tems can be made highly efficient, very stable, and compact. The desig n of the RFQ structures and results of optimizations with respect to i mpedance and field quality will be discussed.
